First Xylella-hit tree chopped down

Workers cut down olive trees affected by the Xylella bacterium in Oria (Brindisi), in Puglia region, Italy, 13 April 2015. Italy on Monday chopped down the first olive tree affected by the Xylella bacterium in Puglia, where an epidemic has prompted France to declare an embargo on Puglia products at risk of infection from the deadly pathogen. The tree was cut down in an area far from environmental activists who had so far prevented any felling.
