In particular to <strong>increase voter turnout<\/strong><em>\u2014<\/em>especially among non-voters and first-time voters\u2014<strong>and to counter misinformation and information manipulation<\/strong>. &#8220;The European elections will be a litmus test of European democracy,&#8221; commented Cese President R\u00f6pke, claiming that his institution represents &#8220;the platform of civil society that fights for this democracy.&#8221; It is precisely because of the memorandum of understanding signed today with EU Parliament President Metsola that it will be possible &#8220;<strong>to play a more active role in the run-up to the elections<\/strong>.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.eunews.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/GEA-Comitato_economico_sociale.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-199375 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/www.eunews.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/GEA-Comitato_economico_sociale-210x300.jpg\" alt=\"Economic and Social Committee Cese Opinions\" width=\"371\" height=\"530\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.eunews.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/GEA-Comitato_economico_sociale-210x300.jpg 210w, https:\/\/www.eunews.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/GEA-Comitato_economico_sociale-717x1024.jpg 717w, https:\/\/www.eunews.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/GEA-Comitato_economico_sociale-768x1097.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.eunews.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/GEA-Comitato_economico_sociale.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 371px) 100vw, 371px\" \/><\/a>According to points of understanding between the two institutions, the EESC will invite representatives of the parliament to participate in the <strong>Civil Society Week<\/strong> scheduled for March 4-7 and in debates before and after the election, and close cooperation will be envisaged in organizing the respective <strong>Europe and Open Doors\u00a0Days<\/strong> (on May 4 in Brussels). For its part, the EU Parliament will share its press and MEP toolkit, inter-institutional handbook, and communication tools with the Committee, in turn <strong>involving EU representatives in European election-related events<\/strong>, both in capitals and in Brussels, and sharing access to <a class=\"ext\" href=\"https:\/\/what-europe-does-for-me.europarl.europa.eu\/en\/home\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">What Europe does for me<\/a> and <a class=\"ext\" href=\"https:\/\/together.eu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">together.eu<\/a> platforms.
