The European Commission fears accidents and is working on the worst-case scenario,\u00a0 which\u00a0was\u00a0always\u00a0in the background and never really underestimated. Energy Commissioner <strong>Kadri Simson<\/strong> admits that the College of Commissioners &#8220;<span lang=\"en-EN\">has increased preparedness for radiological incidents and conducted modeling work t<strong>o assess the impact of a nuclear accident in Ukraine<\/strong>.&#8221; Work that is being carried out with national governments. &#8220;The Commission works with Member States <strong>to enhance preparedness and response in case of a radiological or nuclear emergency in Ukraine.&#8221;<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The hope is that we will never have to resort to emergency plans; meanwhile, the EU is preparing. Simson&#8217;s admission comes in response to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.europarl.europa.eu\/doceo\/document\/P-9-2024-000200_EN.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">parliamentary question<\/a> submitted by Lithuanian EPP MEP Liudas Ma\u017eylis.
