Brussels – After shutting down<\/a> Voice of Europe and sanctions for pro-Russian activities<\/a> by the online media outlet, the EU imposed sanctions against two key people linked to the online newspaper, who will be barred from entering or transiting Europe. The European Union\u00a0sanctioned\u00a0<\/strong>Artem Marchevskyi,<\/strong> who for the ministers of the 27 Member States\u00a0“played a key role in the acquisition of Voice of Europe” and, is the paper’s unofficial head, “played a decisive role” in spreading disinformation aimed at undermining Ukraine’s credibility and public image and its efforts to defend itself against Russia’s war of aggression.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Also on the\u00a0list is Viktor Medvedchuk<\/strong>, again for promoting policies and actions designed to undermine the credibility and legitimacy of the Ukrainian government.<\/span><\/span> Medvedchuk also has “close personal ties with [Russian President] Vladimir Putin and is associated with his regime.” Through his associates, the EU Council points out, Medvedchuk controlled Ukrainian media and used it\u00a0to spread pro-Russian propaganda in Ukraine and beyond.”<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
