In the morning, the airport advised passengers departing later in the day\u00a0not to go to the facility and to contact their airline.<\/p>\n<p>BSCA management accused\u00a0unions of a &#8216;wild strike&#8217; &#8212; that is, of failing to issue any official call for strike action, which affects most operational functions:\u00a0<strong>baggage, check-in, and aircraft refueling<\/strong>. Unions had announced the strike on Sept. 4, with the condition\u00a0that the strike\u00a0could only occur\u00a0at the end of a 14-day warning\u00a0period.<\/p>\n<p>On the other hand, the CNE &#8212; National Union of Workers in Walloon Belgium &#8212; said that the collective participation in the strike is evidence of the feeling of staff fatigue. Unions claim that they warned BSCA management of problems within the company for several months but have received no concrete response. According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lesoir.be\/622255\/article\/2024-09-12\/greve-laeroport-de-charleroi-le-mouvement-de-grogne-se-poursuivra-vendredi\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reports<\/a>\u00a0in the Belgian daily <em>Le Soir,<\/em> unions notified\u00a0<strong>the strike would continue into Friday<\/strong> as there has been no agreement between the parties.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Brussels South Airport accuses unions of a &#8216;wild strike&#8217;.
