Brussels – Inflation<\/strong> in the Eurozone<\/strong> continues to decline gradually: 2.2 percent<\/strong> in August 2024, according to data released by\u00a0Eurostat, the EU’s statistical office. It also decreased compared to July 2024 (2.6 percent) and more than halved compared to August 2023<\/strong> (5.2 percent).<\/p>\n

The Eurozone average is slightly lower than the European Union, which stands at 2.4 pct. The country results vary<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The best<\/strong> performance came from Lithuania<\/strong> and Latvia<\/strong>, two of the three Baltic countries, with annual inflation rates below 1 percent, followed by Ireland<\/strong> at 1.1 percent.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, Estonia saw a\u00a0rate of more than 3 percent, followed by Hungary, with the same value. Less\u00a0positive were\u00a0the data<\/strong>\u00a0for Poland<\/strong> (4.0 pct), Belgium<\/strong> (4.3 pct), and Romania,<\/strong> with an annual rate of 5.3 percent. Despite this, compared with August 2023, inflation in Poland and Romania has halved, while in Belgium, it doubled.<\/p>\n
