It also decreased compared to July 2024 (2.6 percent) and <strong>more than halved compared to August 2023<\/strong> (5.2 percent).<\/p>\n<p>The Eurozone average is slightly lower than the European Union, which stands at 2.4 pct. Source: Eurostat<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>The best<\/strong> performance came from <strong>Lithuania<\/strong> and <strong>Latvia<\/strong>, two of the three Baltic countries, with annual inflation rates below 1 percent, followed by <strong>Ireland<\/strong> at 1.1 percent.<\/p>\n<p>On the other hand, Estonia saw a\u00a0rate of more than 3 percent, followed by Hungary, with the same value. <strong>Less\u00a0positive were\u00a0the data<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>for Poland<\/strong> (4.0 pct), <strong>Belgium<\/strong> (4.3 pct), and <strong>Romania,<\/strong> with an annual rate of 5.3 percent. Despite this, compared with August 2023, inflation in Poland and Romania has halved, while in Belgium, it doubled.<\/p>\n<div class=\"flourish-embed flourish-chart\" data-src=\"visualisation\/19459248\"><script src=\"https:\/\/public.flourish.studio\/resources\/embed.js\"><\/script><noscript><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/public.flourish.studio\/visualisation\/19459248\/thumbnail\" width=\"100%\" alt=\"chart visualization\" \/><\/noscript><\/div>\n<p>The <strong>main inflation components<\/strong>\u00a0in the euro area show that\u00a0<strong>services<\/strong> recorded the highest annual rate in August (4.1 percent, up from 4.0 in July), followed by &#8216;<strong>foods, alcohol, and tobacco<\/strong>&#8216; (2.3 pct, stable compared to July), non-energy industrial goods (0.4 percent, up from 0.7 percent in July) and energy (-3.0 percent, down from 1.2 in July).<\/p>\n<p>Regarding weights for 2024,\u00a0the most significant\u00a0component in terms of euro area household final\u00a0monetary\u00a0consumption was services\u00a0(44.9 percent), followed by non-energy industrial goods (25.7 percent). <strong>Food, alcohol, and tobacco products, and energy<\/strong> account for 19.5 percent and 9.9 percent, respectively.\u00a0Together, they comprise <strong>less than one-third of euro area spending <\/strong>but can <strong>significantly impact overall inflation<\/strong>, given the <strong>greater tendency for prices to fluctuate<\/strong>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Results for euro area countries vary, led by Lithuania, Latvia, and Ireland.
