{"id":395402,"date":"2024-10-04T17:41:31","date_gmt":"2024-10-04T15:41:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.eunews.it\/2024\/10\/04\/nestle-impatto-sociale-positivo-vincente\/"},"modified":"2024-10-10T14:42:43","modified_gmt":"2024-10-10T12:42:43","slug":"nestle-in-italy-proves-that-positive-social-impact-is-a-winning-business-policy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.eunews.it\/en\/2024\/10\/04\/nestle-in-italy-proves-that-positive-social-impact-is-a-winning-business-policy\/","title":{"rendered":"Nestl\u00e9 in Italy proves that positive social impact is a winning business policy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Rome\u00a0&#8211;\u00a0<span style=\"margin: 0px; padding: 0px;\">The\u00a0<strong>Nestl\u00e9 Group in Italy<\/strong>\u00a0continues to distinguish itself for its\u00a0<strong>commitment to social work<\/strong>.\u00a0<strong>In 2023<\/strong>,\u00a0more than \u20ac3.5 million euros were allocated<\/span><strong>\u00a0toward projects of social significance<\/strong>, notes the first positive industry report generated in Italy.<\/p>\n<p>Together with Luiss Business School and SCS Consulting, the Nestl\u00e9 Group presented <strong>The<\/strong> <strong>Nest We Share<\/strong>, the first social impact study that captures the company&#8217;s <strong>contribution in five macro-areas<\/strong>: the well-being of Nestl\u00e9 Group people in Italy and their families, support for local communities, nutrition education, nutritional health and well-being, and occupational safety.<\/p>\n<p>In family welfare, Nestl\u00e9 has distinguished itself as a best practice and trailblazer for its <strong>three-month, 100 per cent paid parental leave for fathers or second caregiver<\/strong>s, called <strong>Nestl\u00e9 Baby Leave<\/strong>. In addition, the <strong>90-day Campus<\/strong> was proposed to provide employees with a three-month summer centre for their children.\u00a0<span style=\"margin: 0px; padding: 0px;\">New parents,<strong>\u00a0children,<\/strong><\/span><strong>\u00a0and young people are included in the projects<\/strong>. More than 140 thousand young people are involved in initiatives related to nutrition, water awareness and respect for pets.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;There are several measures and projects we have promoted to generate a positive and lasting impact, with the <strong>desire to create a better future for all<\/strong>,&#8221; comments <strong>Marco Travaglia<\/strong>, <strong>president and CEO of the Nestl\u00e9 Group in Italy<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h5 id='nestl\u00e9-and-parenting'  id=\"boomdevs_1\"><strong>Nestl\u00e9 and parenting<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 0px;\">In Italy, the <strong>Nestl\u00e9 Baby Leave was a big step forward<\/strong> in protecting new parents and limiting the absence of equitable sharing of family workload.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 0px;\">In March 2022, Nestl\u00e9 signed an agreement with the food workers&#8217; unions (FAI CISL, FLAI CGIL, and UILA UIL), committing to more than \u20ac1 million per year to fund this initiative. We are talking about an important addition to the same company policies, which had added two weeks compared to the Italian norm of 10 days of paternity leave. The sharp decline in population and gender stereotypes, whereby newborn care is the exclusive preserve of women, prompted Nestl\u00e9&#8217;s Italian group to offer &#8220;a concrete measure aimed at enhancing <strong>people&#8217;s parenthood, rather than constituting one of the causes of the gender gap in the world of work<\/strong>.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 0px;\">&#8220;<strong>Initiatives to support parenting<\/strong> and <strong>break gender barriers<\/strong> have always been a <strong>priority for Nestl\u00e9<\/strong>. These two <strong>themes are inseparable<\/strong> as parenthood continues to impact women&#8217;s career advancement, thus making it necessary to rebalance roles and tasks in the family context,&#8221; are the words of comment from <strong>Giacomo Piantoni<\/strong>, <strong>director of human resources for Nestl\u00e9 Group in Italy<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 0px;\"><strong>After one year<\/strong>, in 2023, <strong>the results &#8220;bode well&#8221; for Piantoni<\/strong>.\u00a0<span style=\"margin: 0px; padding: 0px;\">Nestl\u00e9&#8217;s director of human resources in Italy reported that &#8220;<strong>78 per cent of new fathers in the company took advantage of the opportunity,<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>100 per cent would recommend and take it up again with<\/strong>\u00a0the birth of<strong>\u00a0a second child<\/strong><em>.&#8221;<\/em><\/span><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 0px;\"><span style=\"margin: 0px; padding: 0px;\">As further evidence of concrete commitment, in 2023, the company contributed to the payment of\u00a0<strong>27 daycare fees<\/strong>\u00a0for the children of its employees, amounting to nearly<strong>\u00a0\u20ac75,00<\/strong>, as well as more than <strong>\u20ac58,500<\/strong>\u00a0of early childhood food products provided free of charge to new parents.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 0px;\">Another project developed and just launched by Nestl\u00e9 Group in Italy for parents, new parents, and parents-to-be is\u00a0&#8220;<strong>Parents at First Steps<\/strong>&#8220;, an initiative in collaboration with <strong>Unobravo<\/strong>, an online psychology medical centre supporting people&#8217;s psychological well-being.\u00a0The partnership between Nestl\u00e9 and Unobravo intends to<br \/>\nassist parents or expectant parents who feel the need, <strong>with Nestl\u00e9 providing<br \/>\nthe first three sessions<\/strong> to individuals who choose to begin a <strong>parenting-focused<br \/>\npsychological support program<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>In fact, Nestl\u00e9&#8217;s survey developed in Italy together with <strong>Unobravo<\/strong> and with the technical support of the <strong>YouGov<\/strong> platform, which involved more than 1100 new parents or people intending to become parents, showed that the <strong>impact of parenting on mental health<\/strong> is a very important issue.<\/p>\n<h3 id='and-after-that'  id=\"boomdevs_2\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0px;\">And after that?<\/h3>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 0px;\">Nestl\u00e9&#8217;s efforts have not been limited to supporting new parents.\u00a0<span style=\"margin: 0px; padding: 0px;\">The\u00a0<strong>90-day Campus<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nestle.it\/media\/pressreleases\/allpressreleases\/campus-estivo-nestle\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/a>includes the possibility for employees to have a\u00a0<strong>six-week summer centre<\/strong>\u00a0(Corporate Campus) to which they can send their children during the summer period.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 0px;\">Within the <strong>Assago<\/strong> headquarters of the Nestl\u00e9 Group in Italy, a project has been organized in which educators from <strong>Orma, an Amateur Sports Association affiliated with Coni<\/strong>, <strong>supervise the children of workers<\/strong>.\u00a0<span style=\"margin: 0px; padding: 0px;\">Piantoni explains the decision to turn to a Coni-affiliated association<\/span>: &#8220;The choice of this theme is justified by the fact that <strong>after the school year<\/strong> in which <strong>children<\/strong> were more indoor\u00a0and stationary, <strong>they need to move and get out<\/strong>. In fact, the &#8220;Nutriplate on the Move&#8221; guide provides nutritional advice in relation to sports activity. It proposes recipes for balanced snacks to be consumed before, after, and during physical activity without ever forgetting the importance of adequate hydration.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 0px;\">Nestl\u00e9 is also interested in <strong>endowments<\/strong><span style=\"margin: 0px; padding: 0px;\"><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/span>with donations that go to charities such as The Food Bank. In 2023 alone, <strong>41,160 shopping carts<\/strong> (equivalent to two\u00a0thousand tons of food in 2023)\u00a0<span style=\"margin: 0px; padding: 0px;\"><strong>result from<\/strong><\/span><strong>\u00a0Nestl\u00e9 Group<\/strong> donations, in addition to the more than two\u00a0million euros given directly to charity (a 65 per cent increase over 2022).<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 0px;\">The social value generated by Nestl\u00e9&#8217;s activities is also linked to the <strong>commitment and generosity of its people<\/strong>, who\u2014thanks to the company&#8217;s full support\u2014are able to devote their time to those who need it most. Indeed, <strong>paid corporate volunteering<\/strong> is an important cornerstone of the Group&#8217;s social responsibility. In 2023, 90 employees volunteered with paid company leave, and the company aims to reach <strong>450 people by 2026<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 0px;\">&#8220;The important results achieved motivate us to work with even more enthusiasm and dedication, in the belief that\u00a0<strong>our growth as a company and as individuals is closely linked to the social value we manage to generate<\/strong> daily through our work,&#8221; says <strong>Travaglia<\/strong>.
