Fears emerged at the last meeting of the central bank&#8217;s Governing Council, when they opted to reduce interest rates<strong>,<\/strong>\u00a0as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ecb.europa.eu\/press\/accounts\/2024\/html\/ecb.mg241010~1036884a9a.en.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">minutes of the September 12 meeting<\/a>\u00a0show.<\/p>\n<p>In broader terms,\u00a0there is the belief in the Eurotower that the situation is positive overall: inflation is falling, in terms of the employment rate, the labor market remains strong, and excluding\u00a0uncertainties related to geopolitical tensions, &#8220;<strong>a recession is unlikely<\/strong>.&#8221; However, there\u00a0is a &#8216;but&#8217;. At the meeting, the ECB board acknowledged that &#8220;<strong>weak growth in the largest euro area economy, in particular, was dragging down euro area growth.<\/strong><span class=\"HwtZe\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">&#8220;<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Germany is not explicitly named, but the &#8220;largest economy in the euro area&#8221; automatically refers to the Federal Republic.
