Brussels – The European Investment Bank<\/strong> (EIB) is investing in\u00a0graphene<\/strong> and advanced 2D materials production<\/strong> in Italy,\u00a0allocating 20 million euros to the Italian scale-up BeDimensional<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

“We are excited and grateful that the EIB has decided to join our investors to support our industrial expansion,” said Vittorio Pellegrini, managing director of BeDimensional<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The funding aims\u00a0to enable expanding\u00a0graphene production<\/strong>, a material that promises to “bolster Europe’s competitiveness and industrial base globally<\/strong>.” As a product, it is recognized for its “revolutionary<\/strong> potential<\/strong>” in numerous areas, including battery technology<\/strong>, over which it offers substantial advantages over traditional technologies. BeDimensional aspires, as Pellegrini says, to become a model in the industry “and thus guarantee Europe a leading position<\/strong> in the production and supply of these advanced materials.”<\/p>\n

New graphene proposals from the Italian scale-up have proved to be “ultra-performing in batteries for electric vehicles and in a new generation of metal-free motor oils.” As a goal, the advances should incentivize the adoption of electric vehicles<\/strong> and contribute to the decarbonization of transport, a key goal for the EU.<\/p>\n

“This project <\/strong>is a perfect example of how the EIB can help European innovators<\/strong>,” said\u00a0EIB\u00a0Vice President, Gelsomina Vigliotti<\/strong>. “We are contributing to Europe\u2019s technological leadership<\/strong>, reducing our dependence on external suppliers and creating high-skilled jobs.\u201d<\/p>\n

The European Investment Bank<\/strong> is significantly contributing\u00a0to supporting projects implemented in Italy to develop and encourage the use of green technologies<\/strong>. Other investments include those for wind power<\/a> and\u00a0installing\u00a0photovoltaic systems<\/a>,\u00a0demonstrating Europe’s all-round commitment to the energy transition.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
