The 2023 new passenger car registration data\u00a0is an opportunity to assess\u00a0the situation. In the\u00a0year, 10.7 million vehicles were registered. Among them, pure petrol cars had the highest share (34.5 percent), followed by non-plug-hybrid-petrol (21.1 percent) and battery-only electric\u00a0(14.5 percent).<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 0px;\"><span class=\"HwtZe\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">Looking at the overall figure, however, that is, the sum of new registrations in the last ten years, between 2013 and 2023,\u00a0the share of clean and conventional cars on the road has practically reached the same level thanks to\u00a0the &#8220;<strong>rapid growth in battery-only<\/strong> electric car registrations&#8221; over the past decade, the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/eurostat\/web\/main\/about-us\/who-we-are\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">European Statistical Institute<\/a> points out.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/span><\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.eunews.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/hybrid-battery-electric-new-registration-2024-scaled.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-large wp-image-413821\" src=\"https:\/\/www.eunews.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/hybrid-battery-electric-new-registration-2024-1024x576.jpg\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.eunews.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/hybrid-battery-electric-new-registration-2024-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.eunews.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/hybrid-battery-electric-new-registration-2024-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.eunews.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/hybrid-battery-electric-new-registration-2024-768x432.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.eunews.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/hybrid-battery-electric-new-registration-2024-1536x864.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/www.eunews.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/hybrid-battery-electric-new-registration-2024-2048x1152.jpg 2048w, https:\/\/www.eunews.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/hybrid-battery-electric-new-registration-2024-750x422.jpg 750w, https:\/\/www.eunews.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/hybrid-battery-electric-new-registration-2024-1140x641.jpg 1140w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 0px;\">At a country level, however, there are differing\u00a0realities and preferences. In the mobility revolution,<strong> Italians prefer hybrid cars.<\/strong> Regardless of\u00a0driving preference, the Italian figure confirms the European tendency to move away from traditional ones. Conversely, at least three EU member states\u00a0lag in the implementation of sustainable mobility policies, with Bulgaria (7 percent), the Czech Republic (20 percent), and Croatia (28 percent) having the lowest rates of registration of clean hybrid or battery-powered cars.
