According to the\u00a0<span class=\"HwtZe\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ifo.de\/en\/facts\/2025-01-14\/economic-experts-survey-q4-2024-experts-expect-inflation-remain-high-until-2028\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Economic Experts Survey<\/a>, a quarterly survey conducted by Ifo and in collaboration with the Swiss Economic Policy Institute,\u00a0in 2025, the expected<strong>\u00a0global average inflation rate is\u00a03.9 percent<\/strong>. &#8220;<strong>Greater interest rate cuts are unlikely<\/strong> with these inflation expectations,&#8221; said Ifo researcher\u00a0Niklas Potrafke.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>There is a risk that we may not see an easing of monetary policy because\u00a0<span class=\"HwtZe\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">&#8220;inflation expectations remain above central banks&#8217;\u00a0targets.&#8221; In the absence of a return toward benchmark targets, it becomes more difficult to assume new reductions in the cost of borrowing. Expectations in other parts of Europe remain above the target. Specifically, in\u00a02025, average inflation is expected at 3.5 percent in southern Europe and\u00a07.5 percent in eastern Europe.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>As early as January 30, we will see what may happen in the eurozone as\u00a0the Governing Council of the European Central Bank will meet\u00a0in Frankfurt. The ECB remains committed to a data-driven and evidence-based approach.
