Brussels – There is only Bergamo among 39 European sustainable mobility projects funded by the EU Commission<\/strong> through the Alternative Fuels Infrastructure Facility (AFIF)<\/a>. A total of more than 2.8 million euros has been earmarked for Orio al Serio Airport<\/strong> to install eight electric charging points for ground service vehicles in the airport airside, 32 e-mobile GPUs for remote aircraft stands,\u00a0and two fixed GPUs for the terminal finger, and the necessary grid\u00a0connections.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The EU is allocating\u00a0422 million euros, with Italy coordinating only one project:\u00a0the Bergamo airport. For clean mobility, there are other ‘green’ projects involving Italy that are deemed worthy<\/a> of financial support. They include\u00a0the ‘Drive-E General’ project, which envisages installing 224 light-duty electric vehicle charging points and 301 for heavy-duty electric vehicles across\u00a0Austria, Germany, Denmark, Italy, Latvia, the Netherlands, and Sweden.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

In addition, again regarding\u00a0electric mobility, there is the ‘Miles general’ project coordinated by the Netherlands that aims to install 236\u00a0combined charging systems (CCS) charging points for heavy-duty vehicles across\u00a0Austria, Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain and Sweden.<\/p>\n

“The 39 projects we are supporting today will accelerate the deployment of critical recharging and refueling infrastructure needed for our expanding zero-emission fleets,” said Commissioner for Sustainable Transportation and Tourism Apostolos Tzitzikostas,<\/strong>\u00a0expressing\u00a0satisfaction. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The 39 projects the European Commission selected will be definitively approved in the coming months, following the award decision that the EU executive must approve for the disbursement of funds. The European Climate, Infrastructure, and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA) has begun preparing grant agreements with the beneficiaries of the successful projects. The \u20ac2.8 million for Bergamo airport is still pending.
