The attacks began as early as <strong>yesterday<\/strong> when the group targeted <strong>local and air transport services and banking institutions<\/strong> (including Banca Intesa Sanpaolo and Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena), congesting websites and making it impossible for users to access them. Today&#8217;s offensive, on the other hand, saw some 20 targets in the crosshairs &#8211; including the <strong>ministries of Economy, Foreign Affairs, Economic Development, Infrastructure, and Transport<\/strong>, but <strong>also the sites of the Carabinieri (military police), Guardia di Finanza (financial police), and the Air Force<\/strong> &#8211; victims, again, of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cybersecurity360.it\/nuove-minacce\/ddos-cosa-sono-questi-attacchi-hacker-e-come-stanno-evolvendo\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>DDoS attacks<\/strong><\/a> (Distributed Denial of Service).<\/p>\n<p>What allegedly triggered the attack\u00a0was the reference to\u00a0<strong>the actions of today&#8217;s Russia and the Third Reich that annexed the Sudetenland, evoked during President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.quirinale.it\/elementi\/127308\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">speech<\/a> at the University of Marseille<\/strong>\u00a0on\u00a0Feb. 5.\u00a0Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman <strong>Maria Zakharova <\/strong>harshly criticized the words saying: &#8220;During a lecture at one of the educational institutions, he said that he believed that Russia could be equated with the Third Reich. <strong>This cannot and will never be left without consequences<\/strong>,&#8221; the spokeswoman said according to Russia&#8217;s official Ria Novosti news agency.<\/p>\n<p>On a new <strong>Telegram<\/strong> channel, hackers reminded the President of the Republic how &#8220;the Italian fascist regime of Mussolini was a loyal ally of Nazi Germany&#8221; and, today, &#8220;Italy is willingly supplying\u00a0the neo-Nazi terrorist regime in Kyiv with deadly weapons.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>NoName057 had previously caused disruptions coinciding with controversies between\u00a0Rome and Moscow. However, this time, <strong>the National Cybersecurity Agency<\/strong>\u00a0also intercepted the wave and <strong>provided timely<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>warnings to the targets of the attack<\/strong>, which had a minimal\u00a0impact.\u00a0In any case, according to experts, these are <strong>purely propagandistic and demonstrative<\/strong> actions.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&#8220;Punishment for Italy with DDoS missiles&#8221; in response to the words of Sergio Mattarella.
