Amid fierce international competition in the market and structural transformation of the European automotive industry, CLEPA presented its <strong>Sustainability<\/strong>\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.clepa.eu\/insights-updates\/campaigns\/theroadahead\/?utm_source=CLEPA+Media+List&amp;utm_campaign=8455d1f4bc-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2022_11_09_11_08_COPY_01&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_term=0_72375c9ff1-8455d1f4bc-205247874\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Manifesto<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>this morning (Feb. 25), outlining a common path for industry and policymakers to foster the sector&#8217;s sustainable development without sacrificing competitiveness.<\/p>\n<p>The automotive supply sector wants to present itself as pivotal in driving <strong>sustainable innovation<\/strong>, reducing emissions, and boosting the automotive industry. The association intends to move in this direction by committing to achieving <strong>climate neutrality<\/strong> in European operations <strong>by 2040<\/strong>, supporting the EU&#8217;s <strong>circularity<\/strong> goal of sourcing 25 percent of raw materials through recycling and reducing dependencies in supply from an environmental and human rights perspective.<\/p>\n<p>Suppliers also emphasize the\u00a0so-called &#8220;<strong>just<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>transition<\/strong>,&#8221; to be achieved by ensuring that by 2030, 5 percent of workers participating in up- or re-skilling programs annually by 2030. The sector, it is important to note, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.clepa.eu\/about\/industry-at-a-glance\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">employs<\/a> directly nearly <strong>2 million Europeans<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>According to CLEPA secretary-general\u00a0<strong>Benjamin Krieger<\/strong>, the key to the success of this initiative is the <strong>urgent action by policymakers <\/strong>aimed at stimulating investment in green innovation.
