On the agenda are mainly the details of the <strong>truce in the skies <\/strong>and the safety of <strong>navigation in the Black Sea.<\/strong> At the same time, the issue of the<strong> Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant<\/strong>, which the White House reportedly has its eye on, seems to have been excluded for now.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Speaking to reporters alongside Norwegian Prime Minister <strong>Jonas Gahr St\u00f8re<\/strong> from Oslo, where he was visiting while the leaders of the 27 member states\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.eunews.it\/en\/2025\/03\/20\/eu-leaders-confirm-their-commitment-on-ukraine-again-without-orban\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">renewed from Brussels<\/a> their support for the former Soviet republic, <strong>Volodymyr Zelensky<\/strong> confirmed yesterday (March 20) that on Monday,\u00a0<strong>a Ukrainian delegation will travel to Riyadh to meet with US negotiators<\/strong>.\u00a0He explained that there would be\u00a0<strong>two separate<\/strong> <strong>bilateral meetings<\/strong> in the Saudi capital: the US\u00a0team would sit at the table first with Kyiv&#8217;s team and then with\u00a0Moscow&#8217;s.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-o-mail-quote-node=\"1\" data-o-mail-quote=\"1\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"art\"><a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/ccKxIyFwKS\">https:\/\/t.co\/ccKxIyFwKS<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Jonas Gahr St\u00f8re (@jonasgahrstore) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/jonasgahrstore\/status\/1902783409455321099?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">March 20, 2025<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"p1\">The objective is to agree\u00a0on the <strong>technical aspects of the 30-day partial ceasefire<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eunews.it\/en\/2025\/03\/20\/ukraine-trump-and-zelensky-align-on-terms-for-a-truce\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">approved on paper<\/a> by both countries, which, for the time being, no one is abiding by since r<strong>eciprocal shelling has not yet stopped<\/strong>. The main issue\u00a0to be solved for the truce to go into effect concerns<strong> the type of infrastructure to spare<\/strong> from missiles and drones under the agreement: the Russians would like to narrow it down to <strong>only energy infrastructure,<\/strong> while the Ukrainians are pushing to <strong>include civilian infrastructure<\/strong> such as ports and rail networks.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The Russian side also confirmed the upcoming talks. Kremlin spokesman <strong>Dmitri Peskov<\/strong> referred to the so-called &#8220;<strong>Black Sea Initiative<\/strong>,&#8221; which <strong>Vladimir Putin<\/strong> and <strong>Donald Trump<\/strong> discussed<a href=\"https:\/\/www.eunews.it\/en\/2025\/03\/18\/ukraine-trump-and-putin-agree-to-a-partial-30-day-ceasefire\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> in their phone call<\/a>\u00a0on\u00a0Tuesday (March 18). With the <i>tycoon<\/i>, if anything, he\u00a0talked about <strong>managing the facility<\/strong>, which\u00a0Moscow&#8217;s troops\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/kyivindependent.com\/russian-occupied-zaporizhzhia-nuclear-plant-in-focus-of-ukraine-peace-talks-whats-at-stake\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">currently control<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The Ukrainian leader also\u00a0said he had not confronted Trump about the <strong>future of Crimea<\/strong>, the peninsula formally part of Ukrainian territory that <strong>the Federation<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>unilaterally annexed in 2014<\/strong>.\u00a0According to many observers, the US president would be inclined to\u00a0propose <strong>yielding it to Putin<\/strong> to accelerate negotiations toward ending the conflict.
