It is not easy, as Moscow uses European needs and wants for its benefit and specifically to circumvent, albeit partially, EU sanctions. However, the European Commission found a way to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.eunews.it\/en\/2025\/02\/05\/russian-gas-makes-its-way-into-the-eu-as-cheap-fertilisers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">prevent chemicals useful for agricultural production made with the sanctioned gas from entering the single market<\/a>: chemical composition. Specifically,\u00a0<strong>it allows the purchase of\u00a0phosphorus fertilizers instead of nitrogen ones.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Trade Commissioner <strong>Maros Sefcovic<\/strong> explains how the EU executive is approaching a problem that objectively is a puzzle. P<span class=\"HwtZe\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">hosphorus- and potassium-based fertilizers are not included in the list of banned products because &#8220;they are mineral fertilizers that are not produced from natural gas,&#8221; he emphasizes in responding to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.europarl.europa.eu\/doceo\/document\/P-10-2025-000434_EN.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">parliamentary question<\/a>. So, this kind of fertilizer from Russia does not contribute to enriching Gazprom and, consequently, the Russian war machine.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Of course, continuing to buy Russian products helps fuel the country&#8217;s economy against the European Union&#8217;s\u00a0stated intentions of wanting to weaken the Russian Federation precisely economically.
