For these reasons, the <strong>European Commission<\/strong> plans to boost decarbonisation and energy market integration by putting <strong>\u20ac600 million<\/strong> on the table to support <strong>projects<\/strong> related to\u00a0<strong>critical energy infrastructures<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The call,\u00a0<span style=\"margin: 0px; padding: 0px;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/energy.ec.europa.eu\/news\/call-launched-energy-infrastructure-projects-worth-eu600-million-2025-04-03_en#:~:text=3%20April%202025-,Call%20launched%20for%20energy%20infrastructure%20projects%20worth%20%E2%82%AC600%20million,launched%20by%20the%20Commission%20today.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">launched\u00a0<\/a>today<\/span>\u00a0(April 3), aims to incentivise the submission of new proposals under the <strong>Connecting Europe Facility<\/strong> (<a href=\"https:\/\/commission.europa.eu\/funding-tenders\/find-funding\/eu-funding-programmes\/connecting-europe-facility_en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CEF<\/a>) by co-financing cross-border infrastructure programs. The <strong>study projects<\/strong> or\u00a0<strong>construction works<\/strong> that will be eligible for these funds are those included in the &#8220;Programs of Common Interest&#8221; (<strong>PCI<\/strong>)\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/commission\/presscorner\/detail\/it\/qanda_23_6048\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">list<\/a> and among the &#8220;Projects of Mutual Interest&#8221; (<strong>PMI<\/strong>), i.e., conducted through the cooperation of at least two member states and aimed at eliminating fossil resources and achieving climate and energy goals. Specifically, 85 of these projects involve the <strong>electricity sector<\/strong>, 65 hydrogen and electrolysers, 12 offshore infrastructure, and as many as 10 include electricity interconnections with the United Kingdom, the Western Balkans, and North Africa.<\/p>\n<p>At the announcement, Energy and Housing Commissioner <strong>Dan J\u00f8rgensen<\/strong> emphasised the urgency of the funding: &#8220;Now more than ever, we need to step up our investments to <strong>ensure a true Energy Union<\/strong>, to empower competitiveness, ensure our energy security, and reduce costs for all. <strong>Connecting the fundamental missing links<\/strong> for a seamless cross-border energy flow is essential.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>CEF energy online info day<\/strong>, aimed at informing interested entities about the selection process, will be held in May. These will have until <strong>September 16<\/strong>, 2025, to submit funding applications to the Commission.
