{"id":423969,"date":"2025-04-10T11:03:25","date_gmt":"2025-04-10T09:03:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.eunews.it\/2025\/04\/10\/ribera-transizione-competere-con-mondo\/"},"modified":"2025-04-10T14:30:36","modified_gmt":"2025-04-10T12:30:36","slug":"ribera-calls-for-twin-transition-to-stay-competitive-globally","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.eunews.it\/en\/2025\/04\/10\/ribera-calls-for-twin-transition-to-stay-competitive-globally\/","title":{"rendered":"Ribera calls for twin transition to stay competitive globally"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Brussels &#8211; Using the\u00a0Green Deal as a lever for the all-new competitiveness required in a growing world is the purpose of the\u00a0twin\u00a0Green and Digital Transition challenge that the EU has been pursuing\u00a0since the beginning of the last legislature, European Commission\u00a0executive vice president <strong>Teresa Ribera<\/strong>, said in\u00a0a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.europarl.europa.eu\/committees\/en\/empl\/home\/highlights\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">European Parliament&#8217;s Employment Committee<\/a>\u00a0hearing. &#8220;<strong>The rest of the world is improving its expectations<\/strong>,&#8221; which are life expectations, quality of life, and economic growth. &#8220;It is normal that there is appetite for these countries,&#8221; and the <strong>EU must convince investors and businesses to stay in Europe<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>To be able to do this and remain in the world spotlight, we must\u00a0continue with the manufacturing process transformation agenda. &#8220;<strong>We need to bet on something to produce something new and more technological<\/strong>,&#8221;\u00a0Ribera said.\u00a0&#8220;<strong>The green and digital transition is just that<\/strong>.&#8221; It is not about building something new but\u00a0converting what already exists. &#8220;Traditional industry, to be more competitive, has to de-carbonize.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The call from the executive vice president in charge of Clean and Competitive Transition is, therefore, to keep pushing the EU agenda at all levels. &#8220;The Commission can help a lot, but <strong>the role of national and regional governments remains crucial<\/strong>&#8221; for the success of modernization strategies hinged on ecological and digital transformation.<\/p>\n<p>In this collective effort, Brussels will continue to support the member states through the<a href=\"https:\/\/www.eesc.europa.eu\/it\/sections-other-bodies\/observatories\/sustainable-development-observatory\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u00a0Sustainable Development Observatory<\/a> control room,\u00a0which is essential to monitor the progress of the European agenda. &#8220;We are talking about a transformation process that we have never had before, which is proceeding at an unprecedented speed,&#8221; Ribera said. &#8220;That&#8217;s why we created the observatory. The data is crucial,&#8221; as the entire agenda is not to be questioned.
