There may be different reasons and types of disability, but in the EU, the cases, fortunately, do not seem to be so many. Data released by\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/eurostat\/web\/main\/about-us\/who-we-are\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Eurostat<\/a>\u00a0shows that only a small proportion of the EU population over 50 or in their senior years\u00a0received disability pensions. <strong>Just\u00a04.6 percent of people aged\u00a050-74 received disability pensions or other periodic disability benefits in 2023, translating into over\u00a06.2 million such welfare benefits<\/strong> across the EU.<\/p>\n<div class=\"lRu31\" dir=\"ltr\">\n<div class=\"OvtS8d\"><span class=\"HwtZe\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">On figures, in percentage terms, the most significant share of men and women receiving only disability pensions or other periodic disability benefits are in Estonia (11.5 percent of people aged 50-74), Denmark (10.1 percent), and Lithuania (9.1 percent).<\/span><\/span>\u00a0On the other hand, the lowest rates are in <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">Cyprus (1.9 percent), Malta (2.2 percent) and Greece (2.5 percent).<br \/>\n<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><strong>In absolute terms, <\/strong>however, everything changes, as<strong> France (just over one million), Spain (just over one million), and Germany (681 thousand) are the EU Member States with the most significant number of<\/strong> guaranteed and paid<strong> disability\u00a0pensions.\u00a0Italy follows in fourth place (655 thousand). <\/strong>The situation is unsurprising, given\u00a0that these are the most populous member states, and consequently, the likelihood of having more people with health problems increases.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Eurostat: this type of welfare supports concerns only a small part of the EU population (4.6 per cent).
