{"id":431054,"date":"2025-06-27T17:03:37","date_gmt":"2025-06-27T15:03:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.eunews.it\/2025\/06\/27\/ue-fino-a-2031-pedaggi-zero-camion-green\/"},"modified":"2025-06-27T18:00:19","modified_gmt":"2025-06-27T16:00:19","slug":"eu-proposes-to-extend-zero-tolls-for-green-trucks-until-2031","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.eunews.it\/en\/2025\/06\/27\/eu-proposes-to-extend-zero-tolls-for-green-trucks-until-2031\/","title":{"rendered":"EU proposes to extend &#8216;zero tolls&#8217; for &#8216;green&#8217; trucks until 2031"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Brussels &#8211; Moving forward with sustainable buses and trucks.\u00a0More and more, in the name of the green economy and in line with an industrial agenda that, now more than ever,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.eunews.it\/en\/2025\/06\/20\/european-commission-stumbles-in-rush-to-the-right-we-will-withdraw-the-law-against-greenwashing-but-then-denies-it\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">following the second von der Leyen Commission&#8217;s rethinking<\/a>, needs to be kept on track.\u00a0<span style=\"margin: 0px; padding: 0px;\">Hence, the proposal is to\u00a0<strong>extend<\/strong>\u00a0the exemption from tolls and user charges for zero-emission heavy goods vehicles\u00a0<strong>for a further six years, until 31 December 2031<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The initiative, which aims to\u00a0<span style=\"margin: 0px; padding: 0px;\">extend<a href=\"https:\/\/eur-lex.europa.eu\/legal-content\/EN\/TXT\/?uri=CELEX%3A01999L0062-20220324\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u00a0existing<\/a><\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/eur-lex.europa.eu\/legal-content\/EN\/TXT\/?uri=CELEX%3A01999L0062-20220324\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u00a0concessions<\/a>, is part of a\u00a0<span style=\"margin: 0px; padding: 0px;\">broader<a href=\"https:\/\/www.eunews.it\/en\/2024\/12\/19\/european-commission-launches-strategic-automotive-dialogue-from-january\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u00a0strategic<\/a><\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.eunews.it\/en\/2024\/12\/19\/european-commission-launches-strategic-automotive-dialogue-from-january\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u00a0dialogue on the automotive sector launched by the EU executive<\/a>, followed by an industrial action plan in early March. Today&#8217;s proposal (27 June), explains <span class=\"HwtZe\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">the Commissioner for Transport, <strong>Apostolos Tzitzikostas<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span>, &#8220;implements a specific action from this plan,&#8221; the one\u00a0which aims to &#8220;increase the demand for zero-emission vehicles and accelerate the adoption of clean trucks.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The proposal will now have to pass the scrutiny of the EU Parliament and Council, but <span class=\"HwtZe\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\"><strong>Tzitzikostas<\/strong><\/span><\/span> has no doubts that the &#8216;green&#8217; measure is such that both European co-legislators will support it. First of all, the proposal is consistent with the <strong>objectives\u00a0<\/strong><span class=\"HwtZe\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\"><strong>that aim at a 43 per cent reduction of CO2 emissions by 2030<\/strong>, and, at the same time, it responds to the demands of business: <span class=\"ryNqvb\">&#8220;We need to create the right conditions to <strong>support European companies<\/strong> and reward those who move first in the transition to a low-carbon economy,&#8221; the European Commissioner emphasises. &#8220;<span class=\"jCAhz JpY6Fd\">By extending the exemption period,&#8221; he assures, &#8220;we offer a strong incentive for companies to invest in zero-emission vehicles and reduce emissions from road transport.
