At the end of the month, <strong>dozens of boats will set sail<\/strong> to the coastal exclave, in an attempt to <strong>break the naval blockade<\/strong> and <strong>get<\/strong> <strong>the humanitarian aid that the civilian population<\/strong> desperately needs, but which the Jewish state continues to refuse to let through.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"margin: 0px;padding: 0px\">Next 31 August,&nbsp;<strong>dozens of boats and ships from 44 countries<\/strong>&nbsp;will set sail to&nbsp;<strong>reach the shores of Gaza<\/strong>.<\/span>&nbsp;Some will depart from <strong>Spain<\/strong>, while others will leave their moorings on 4 September from <strong>Tunisia<\/strong>. It is the <strong>Global Sumud Flotilla<\/strong>, a <a href=\"https:\/\/globalsumudflotilla.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">transnational movement<\/a> born from the union of three previous initiatives\u2014the Freedom Flotilla Coalition, the Global Movement for Gaza, and the Maghreb Sumud Convoy<em>\u2014<\/em><span style=\"margin: 0px;padding: 0px\">to&nbsp;<strong>break<\/strong><\/span><strong>&nbsp;the total siege<\/strong> with which Israel encircles the Strip by land, sea, and air and <strong>deliver vital humanitarian aid<\/strong> to the civilian population, now on the verge of collapse.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>global call for solidarity<\/strong> with the <strong>Palestinian people<\/strong> launched by the association is being answered by dozens of men and women from the worlds of politics, activism, culture, and music who are using their platforms to spread the initiative&#8217;s <strong>humanitarian message<\/strong>, as well as thousands of citizens from all corners of the world, including doctors, journalists, and lawyers. &#8220;<strong>Each boat represents a community and the refusal to remain silent in the face of genocide<\/strong>,&#8221; write the promoters of the international coalition.<\/p>\n<p>Several Italian public figures have also decided to put their faces to the task and raise their voices against the war crimes perpetrated by Tel Aviv, with the aim of keeping media attention focused on the initiative: from <strong>Alessandro Gassman<\/strong> to <strong>Claudio Santamaria<\/strong>, from <strong>Alessandro Barbero<\/strong> to <strong>Zerocalcare<\/strong>. Internationally known faces such as <strong>Greta Thunberg<\/strong>, <strong>Mark Ruffalo<\/strong>, <strong>Susan Sarandon<\/strong>, <strong>Liam Cunningham<\/strong> and many others.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 0px\">Also at the Venice Film Festival, several Italian artists wrote an open letter asking the festival to take a stand against the ongoing genocide. Among the signatories were prominent names such as <strong>Carolina Crescentini<\/strong>,<strong> Serena Dandini<\/strong>,<strong> Fiorella Mannoia<\/strong>,<strong> Gabriele Muccino<\/strong>,<strong> Alba <\/strong>and<strong> Alice Rohrwacher<\/strong>,<strong> Pietro Sermonti<\/strong>,<strong> Claudio Santamaria<\/strong>,<strong> Toni Servillo<\/strong>,<strong>&nbsp;<\/strong>and<strong> Marco Bellocchio<\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 0px\">The word &#8220;<strong>sumud&#8221;<\/strong> in Arabic means &#8220;<strong>resilience<\/strong>&#8220;. A <strong>peaceful, non-violent <strong>resistance<\/strong>, <\/strong>resorting to<strong> <strong>civil disobedience<\/strong><\/strong>\u2014in which one can take part not only through direct participation on board a vessel, but<strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/globalsumudflotilla.org\/#help\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">in many ways also &#8220;remotely&#8221;<\/a><\/strong>\u2014to rebel against one of the<strong> most heinous and abominable <strong>crimes<\/strong> of contemporary times<\/strong>. In some countries, governments<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.eunews.it\/en\/2025\/08\/22\/un-backed-agency-says-famine-in-gaza-is-entirely-man-made\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">went into crisis<\/a>&nbsp;simply over contemplating the potential <strong>recognition of the State of Palestine<\/strong> as a topic of political discussion.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 0px\">Palestinian state that, in fact, <strong>may soon no longer exist<\/strong>, wiped off the map forever. On the one hand, the <strong>ecatombe in the Strip seems to know no end<\/strong>. A barbaric method, <strong>also used by Russia in Ukraine<\/strong>: in that context, Western governments rightly rage to denounce its inhumanity. In this, however, their silence is deafening.\n<\/p>\n<div>On the other hand, the <strong>apartheid regime<\/strong> put in place by Israel in the <strong>occupied West Bank<\/strong> also continues to fester, where <strong>demolitions<\/strong> (even of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eunews.it\/en\/2025\/08\/19\/west-bank-the-eu-appalled-by-illegal-actions-of-israeli-settlers-but-is-unable-to-act\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">school facilities<\/a> financed with European money) and <strong>violence by settlers<\/strong> are on the rise. And where Tel Aviv<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.eunews.it\/en\/2025\/08\/21\/amid-the-worlds-and-the-eus-inertia-israel-is-dismantling-palestine\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">may soon proceed<\/a> with the <strong>wicked project known as E1<\/strong>, which would connect the settlement of Maale Adumim with East Jerusalem, cutting <em>de facto<\/em> this portion of Palestine in two.<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>An international coalition will put dozens of vessels to sea to reach the coastal exclave and challenge the Tel Aviv authorities to offer relief to the Palestinian population.
