Developing story<\/em> Brussels – The missile attack<\/strong> conducted tonight by Russia on Kyiv also hit the EU delegation office in Ukraine<\/strong>. The condemnation from EU leaders <\/strong>was immediate, stating <\/strong>that the Kremlin shows no genuine interest in peace. In the meantime, international negotiations are proceeding slowly, while the 27 member states discuss security guarantees and new sanctions against Moscow.<\/p>\n

 During the night between August 27 and 28, yet again, a Russian bombing<\/strong> on the Ukrainian capital involved the European Union delegation headquarters<\/strong>, severely damaging it according to information provided by officials working there. The raid killed around ten people and left around thirty injured, according to local reports.\n<\/p>\n

Brussels’ condemnation<\/strong> and the solidarity of the EU institutions towards the civilian victims and the staff of the delegation were not long in coming. “Horrified by yet another night of deadly Russian missile attacks on Ukraine,<\/strong>” the President of the European Council, Ant\u00f3nio Costa<\/strong>, wrote on X, stressing that “the EU will not be intimidated<\/strong>” by the Federation’s bombs. “Russia’s aggression only strengthens our resolve to stand with Ukraine and its people,<\/strong>” he added. <\/p>\n

According to the High Representative, Kaja Kallas<\/strong>, “while the world seeks a way to peace, Russia responds with missiles<\/strong>“. The twelve-star diplomacy chief enjoined the Kremlin to “stop the killing and negotiate<\/strong>” an end to hostilities with Ukraine, <\/em><\/strong>accepting the <\/em><\/strong>mediation offered<\/a><\/em><\/strong> <\/em><\/strong>by US President Donald Trump.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Enlargement Commissioner Marta Kos<\/strong> also “strongly condemned these brutal attacks<\/strong>“, calling them “a clear signal that Russia rejects peace and chooses terror.<\/strong>“ <\/strong><\/em>“Our full solidarity goes to the EU personnel,<\/strong> their families, and all Ukrainians suffering this aggression<\/strong>,” he concluded. <\/p>\n

According to Katarina Mathernova<\/strong>, the EU ambassador to Kyiv, the structure was “severely damaged by the shock wave<\/strong>” caused by the bombing of a nearby civilian building.<\/strong><\/em> “This is Moscow’s real response to the peace efforts,” she added. There are currently no casualties among the delegation staff. <\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Tonight, the defense ministers of the 27 member states will meet in Copenhagen to start an informal meeting that will continue into tomorrow, while on Saturday, it will be the turn of the foreign ministers.
