Between July and September, guests spent <strong>398.1 million nights in short-term rentals<\/strong> in European properties. The twenty most popular tourist regions are located in just five countries: <\/span><strong><span style=\"font-style: normal\">Spain, France, Italy, Portugal and Croatia<\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-style: normal\">. The title of Europe&#8217;s most popular region for short-term rentals goes to <\/span><strong><span style=\"font-style: normal\">Andalusia<\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-style: normal\">, with <\/span><strong><span style=\"font-style: normal\">13.3 million nights<\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-style: normal\"> booked on the three US tourist platforms. It is followed, in order, by <\/span><strong><span style=\"font-style: normal\">Lombardy, Tuscany, Sicily and Veneto<\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-style: normal\">. It is therefore inevitable that these regions have <\/span><strong><span style=\"font-style: normal\">the largest supply of short-term rentals<\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-style: normal\">. This data is confirmed by the report of the <\/span><strong><span style=\"font-style: normal\">Italian Association of Short-Term Rental Managers,<\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-style: normal\"> presented to the Chamber of Deputies in 2024.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"my-2 [&amp;+p]:mt-4 [&amp;_strong:has(+br)]:inline-block [&amp;_strong:has(+br)]:pb-2\"><span style=\"font-style: normal\">The figures in the study show that <strong>in Milan there are 15,586 online advertisements<\/strong> for short-term rentals, <strong>in Rome 21,942<\/strong> and <strong>in Florence 9,239<\/strong>. These figures would have been unthinkable just ten years ago, but according to data released by operators in the sector, they <\/span><strong><span style=\"font-style: normal\">still represent only a fraction<\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-style: normal\"> (just over 1 per cent) <\/span><strong><span style=\"font-style: normal\">of the cities&#8217;s offering. <\/p>\n<p><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<h3 id='the-phenomenon-has-doubled-in-eight-years'  id=\"boomdevs_3\"><span style=\"font-style: normal\">The phenomenon has doubled in eight years<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><strong> <\/p>\n<p class=\"my-2 [&amp;+p]:mt-4 [&amp;_strong:has(+br)]:inline-block [&amp;_strong:has(+br)]:pb-2\"><span style=\"font-style: normal;font-weight: normal\">The trend seems unstoppable in any case. Taking Europe&#8217;s most popular tourist destination, Spain, as an example, <\/span><span style=\"font-style: normal\">in June 2018, tourists spent 9 million nights <\/span><span style=\"font-style: normal;font-weight: normal\">in short-term rental properties. Six years later, <\/span><span style=\"font-style: normal\">the number has almost doubled<\/span><span style=\"font-style: normal;font-weight: normal\">, reaching <\/span><span style=\"font-style: normal\">17.8 million<\/span><span style=\"font-style: normal;font-weight: normal\">. However, this new wave has only benefited certain areas of Europe and almost exclusively <\/span><span style=\"font-style: normal\">US companies<\/span><span style=\"font-style: normal;font-weight: normal\"> that are leaders in the online booking sector.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Five of Europe&#8217;s most-booked regions are in Italy.
