This, at least, is what French MEP <strong>Mathilde Androu\u00ebt<\/strong> claims in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.europarl.europa.eu\/doceo\/document\/E-10-2026-000282_EN.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">her parliamentary question<\/a>, which finds both <strong>confirmations and denials<\/strong> within the European Commission. <\/p>\n<p><span class=\"HwtZe\" lang=\"it\"><span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">&#8220;The ferro alloys safeguard investigation showed that the sector, like many others, is facing<br \/>\n<strong>challenges other than harmful trade practices, such as high energy costs<\/strong>,&#8221;&nbsp;Trade Commissioner <strong>Maros \u0160ef\u010dovi\u010d<\/strong> said in his response. So, in this case at least, the finger should not be pointed at Beijing. It is true, he adds, that as far as ferrosilicon is concerned, &#8220;<strong>there was&nbsp;no increase in imports<\/strong>.&#8221; Therefore, even though the EU executive remains willing to support companies in the sector and \u201cexplore all possible options available under<br \/>\nthe trade defence instruments,\u201d in this specific case, &#8220;it is necessary to <strong>explore also other policy options<\/strong> to help EU silicon producers operate on a<br \/>\nsustainable basis.&#8221;<\/span><\/span><\/span>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u0160ef\u010dovi\u010d\u2019s response is from the last few days, but it refers to a situation reported at the end of January, that is, before the war in Iran broke out with all its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eunews.it\/en\/2026\/03\/13\/iran-conflict-gas%e2%80%91fired-power-generation-costs-have-doubled-in-the-eu\/\">repercussions on energy prices<\/a>.
