From Latvia and its Foreign Minister,&nbsp;Artjoms Ur\u0161u\u013cskis,  comes a clear and unequivocal stance, which exposes his Italian counterpart, Antonio Tajani, to pressure from European partners. The<em> <\/em>EU\u2019s<em> <\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.consilium.europa.eu\/en\/council-eu\/council-meetings-explained\/fac\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Foreign<em> <\/em>Affairs<em> <\/em>Cou<em>n<\/em>cil<\/a><em> <\/em>meeting in Luxembourg is also influenced by the government in Riga, which has included an issue deemed worthy of discussion under the &#8220;any other business&#8221;<em> <\/em>agenda item.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;&#8220;Russia is killing civilians every day and is destroying the European cultural heritage located there.&nbsp;W<strong>e believe collective action is necessary<\/strong>,&#8221; thundered the Latvian Foreign Minister on his arrival, openly criticizing the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/articles\/cz90gpyw90wo\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">attacks on the Ukrainian city of Lviv (Leopoli)<\/a>, a UNESCO site that specifically protects the Bernardine Monastery. &#8220;The Russians have no intention of ending the war. This <strong>is not the time to grant them international credibility.&nbsp;<\/strong>Exclusion from the Venice Biennale &#8220;is a way&#8221; of ensuring the continued delegitimization, and therefore, &#8220;we ask our colleagues to support us&#8221; in the request submitted to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eunews.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/ST-7936-2026-INIT_en.pdf\">agenda<\/a>. &nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>More generally, according to&nbsp;Ur\u0161u\u013cskis and the Latvian government, \u201cwe must <strong>continue to put pressure on Russia<\/strong>\u201d to further weaken it. This is particularly true now, given that \u201cfollowing the elections in Hungary, there is a whole new window of opportunity\u201d to isolate Moscow.
