Brussels \u2013 Kremlin propaganda outlets and foreign influence agents: the EU Council has decided<\/a> to impose sanctions against Euromore and Pravfond<\/strong>, communication platforms accused of promoting Russia\u2019s narrative regarding the war in Ukraine<\/strong>. The two entities have therefore been added to the list of subjects to restrictive measures. Specifically, for these two entities, an asset freeze has been triggered, and EU citizens and businesses are prohibited from making funds, financial assets, or economic resources available to them.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

According to the Council of the EU,<\/span><\/span> Euromore “amplifies, recycles and legitimizes Russian narratives and disinformation aimed at the European public.”<\/span><\/span> Furthermore, it \u201crepeatedly\u201d disseminates content that calls into question the legitimacy of EU institutions and justifies Russia\u2019s war of aggression against Ukraine. Pravfond, the Foundation for the Support and Protection of the Rights of Compatriots Living Abroad, is said to have distinguished itself by amplifying \u201cin particular the accusations of Ukraine\u2019s \u2018Nazification\u2019, claims of widespread \u2018Russophobia,\u2019 and assertions of a \u2018systematic persecution of Russian-speaking populations in neighboring states\u2019.\u201d <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Following today\u2019s decision (21 April), the total number of individuals and entities subject to EU sanctions over Russia\u2019s destabilizing actions has risen to 69 individuals and 19 entities. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
