Severe marine heatwaves occurred across much of the tropical Pacific. Furthermore, it was the third-warmest April globally. This is the picture that emerges from data from the Copernicus Climate Change Service (C3S), managed by the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts. (ECMWF). The average surface air temperature was 14.89 degrees Celsius, 0.52 degrees higher than the 1991–2020 average for the same period.
