The Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister, <strong>Antonio Tajani<\/strong>, sends a clear signal&nbsp;<span style=\"margin: 0px;padding: 0px\">to<a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/business\/finance\/italys-unicredit-awaits-ruling-banco-bpm-deal-after-lifting-commerzbank-voting-2025-07-09\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">&nbsp;the German government, which continues to hold up the operation<\/a><\/span>. &#8220;<strong>I have always been a supporter of the free market<\/strong> and of the banking union, and Europe must take a step forward&#8221; in this regard, he emphasised at the end of the Foreign Affairs Council meeting. &#8220;Until there is a genuine common market, we will always have problems,&#8221; such as the one in question, he added, calling on Germany to step aside. &#8220;<strong>I have no objection to European deals taking place in Italy, and I am not surprised by Italian deals taking place in other countries<\/strong>.&#8221; In other words: do not stand in the way of UniCredit\u2019s acquisition of Commerzbank.
