These differences emerged yesterday (25 June) at the Environment Council meeting held in Luxembourg. <span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Among the countries most strongly in favour of revising the regulation are <a href=\"https:\/\/audiovisual.ec.europa.eu\/en\/media\/video\/I-291891\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">France<\/a> and Spain, while <a href=\"https:\/\/audiovisual.ec.europa.eu\/en\/media\/video\/I-291243\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Poland<\/a> has asked the Commission to work on a better proposal.&nbsp;<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 0px\"><span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">On this issue, the Council therefore confined itself to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.consilium.europa.eu\/en\/meetings\/env\/2026\/06\/25\/?utm_source=brevo&amp;utm_campaign=AUTOMATED%20-%20Alert%20-%20Newsletter&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_id=3318\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">highlighting<\/a> \u201cthe good progress made on the provisions relating to vehicle labelling,\u201d i.e. the rules that will oblige car and van dealers to inform consumers of the CO\u2082 emissions of the vehicles they supply.&nbsp;<\/span><\/span><span style=\"margin: 0px;padding: 0px\">Therefore, both the<a href=\"https:\/\/www.eunews.it\/en\/2025\/12\/15\/cars-eu-parliament-awaits-possible-review-on-emissions\/\" target=\"_blank\"> emissions reduction targets<\/a> proposed for 2030 and 2035 and the new flexibility measures introduced in favour of manufacturers remain unresolved.<\/span><span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">&nbsp;These measures were created to help the automotive sector navigate the transition to clean energy and include the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eunews.it\/en\/2026\/03\/12\/cars-t-easing-the-2030-target-is-risky\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">super-credits for small electric vehicles<\/a>&nbsp;&#8220;made&nbsp;in the EU&#8221;, credits for low-carbon steel (also produced within the Union), and fuel-related credits.&nbsp;<\/span>&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 0px\"><span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">For the time being, according to what was<a href=\"https:\/\/audiovisual.ec.europa.eu\/en\/media\/video\/I-291476\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> reiterated<\/a> at a press conference by the Cypriot Minister for the Environment, <strong class=\"Yjhzub\">Maria Panayiotou<span style=\"font-weight: normal\">,&nbsp;<\/span><\/strong><\/span>\u201c<span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>our Irish colleagues<\/strong><\/span>,\u201d<span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> who will take over the presidency of the Council of the EU from 1 July, \u201c<\/span><b>will carry on the work<\/b>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Brussels &#8211; There is still no agreement on the revision of the regulation on zero-emission cars and vans.
