His <strong>term of office will begin on 1 September and will last for two years<\/strong>. The decision was taken during the meeting of foreign ministers. A German and long-serving European diplomat, Sch\u00fcbel currently holds the post of Head of the Russia Division at the <a href=\"\/\/european-union.europa.eu\/institutions-law-budget\/institutions-and-bodies\/search-all-eu-institutions-and-bodies\/european-external-action-service-eeas_en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">European External Action Service<\/a>. He succeeds Aivo Orav in the role.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Council&nbsp;<strong>also extended the existing mandates of the EU representatives for Bosnia and Herzegovina, Luigi Soreca, and for the Horn of Africa, Annette Weber<\/strong>. Soreca\u2019s mandate has been extended for a further two years, until 31 August 2028, to \u201censure the EU\u2019s continued diplomatic engagement and the effectiveness of the Union\u2019s external action in the country.\u201d Weber\u2019s mandate has been extended by a further twelve months, until 31 August 2027.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>He is the German Dirk Sch\u00fcbel.
