The first instalment, also amounting to 10 million following approval by the budgetary authority, is intended to \u201csupport the operations of search and rescue, medical, and other expert teams, together with in-kind assistance deployed in the country,\u201d according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/commission\/presscorner\/detail\/en\/mex_26_1621\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">press release issued by the European Commission<\/a>. The announcement of the total \u20ac20 million in humanitarian aid to the country coincides with the visit to Venezuela by the European Commissioner for Crisis Preparedness and Management, <strong>Hadja Lahbib. <\/strong>\u201cFrom the very first hours after the earthquakes, the European Union has stood by them,\u201d said the Commissioner on her visit. \u201cThis new funding will help provide food, drinking water, medicines, shelter, and other life-saving aid to families who have lost everything.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">This new contribution is in addition to the <strong>\u20ac5 million<\/strong> in emergency aid approved at the end of June and the <strong>\u20ac52 million<\/strong> already allocated at the start of the year to tackle the consequences of the socio-economic crisis that has long been affecting the country. European aid is distributed exclusively through partner organisations, including United Nations agencies and international NGOs, in collaboration with local organisations.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">The EU\u2019s humanitarian airlift, launched in June, is also continuing: two flights funded by Brussels have already reached Venezuela, carrying almost <strong>80 tonnes<\/strong> of essential supplies. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eunews.it\/en\/2026\/06\/25\/the-eu-stands-with-venezuela-the-civil-protection-mechanism-and-satellite-monitoring-have-been-activated\/\">On the operational front<\/a>, the <a href=\"https:\/\/civil-protection-humanitarian-aid.ec.europa.eu\/what\/civil-protection\/eu-civil-protection-mechanism_en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">EU Civil Protection Mechanism<\/a> has mobilised around <strong>750 rescue workers and experts <\/strong>from 18 countries, along with medicines, temporary shelters, essential supplies, and a satellite telecommunications platform.
