Eurostat&nbsp;confirmed the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eunews.it\/en\/2026\/07\/01\/eurozone-inflation-falls-for-the-first-time-since-early-2026-reaching-2-8-per-cent-in-june\/\">preliminary figures<\/a> published earlier this month, although it revised the items in the reference basket. <span class=\"HwtZe\" lang=\"it\"><span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">According to the <a href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/eurostat\/about-us\/mission-values\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">preliminary estimates<\/a>, the main factor driving inflation down in June was <strong>the fall in energy costs<\/strong> (8.5 per cent compared with the preliminary 8.7 per cent, and from 10.8 per cent in May), coupled with a fall in services (3.2 per cent from&nbsp;3.5 per cent in May), and a drop&nbsp;in the food, alcohol, and tobacco category (1.5 per cent compared with the preliminary 1.6 per cent and from&nbsp;1.9 per cent in May).
