The figures come from the European Commission\u2019s report on the <a href=\"https:\/\/webgate.ec.europa.eu\/circabc-ewpp\/d\/d\/workspace\/SpacesStore\/2ad06bcb-cd1d-4873-a7a5-d0d17dd299dc\/download\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u201cMonitoring of EU agri-food trade: developments until June 2026\u201d<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Cumulative exports<\/strong>\u2014statistical data obtained by adding up the value or volume of goods sent abroad over a rolling period\u2014<strong>for the period January\u2013June amounted to \u20ac117.2 billion, down 2 per cent on the previous year<\/strong>. Reasons for the decline include the fall in the value of cocoa-based products, pork, and olive oil. By destination, cumulative exports to <strong>Egypt <\/strong>rose by \u20ac278 million(+28 per cent) year-on-year, driven mainly by wheat. Similarly, exports to <strong>Ukraine<\/strong> rose by \u20ac247 million (+12 per cent) and those to <strong>India<\/strong> by \u20ac174 million (+26 per cent). <strong>Trade with the Gulf States was affected by the disruption to shipping through the Strait of Hormuz<\/strong>, with exports to the <strong>United Arab Emirates <\/strong> falling by \u20ac395 million (-25 per cent). Looking at individual products, exports of spirits and liqueurs rose by \u20ac405 million (+10 per cent), while those of coffee, tea, cocoa, and spices fell by \u20ac1.1 billion (-16 per cent).&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Cumulative imports<\/strong>\u2014that is, the<span>&nbsp;<\/span>cumulative total of the volume or value of goods purchased from abroad\u2014<strong>stood at \u20ac93.4 billion, down by \u20ac3.6 billion (-4 per cent) compared with the previous year<\/strong>. Nevertheless, imports from <strong>Brazil<\/strong> rose to \u20ac425 million (+5 per cent), thanks to higher soya imports. Imports of coffee, tea, cocoa, and spices, on the other hand, fell by \u20ac3.6 billion (-17 per cent), while those of cereals fell by \u20ac715 million (-15 per cent).
