{"id":464754,"date":"2026-09-11T13:33:31","date_gmt":"2026-09-11T11:33:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.eunews.it\/2026\/09\/11\/eurostat-leggera-crescita-delloccupazione-nellue-nel-secondo-trimestre\/"},"modified":"2026-09-11T14:39:38","modified_gmt":"2026-09-11T12:39:38","slug":"eurostat-slight-rise-in-eu-employment-in-the-second-quarter","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.eunews.it\/en\/2026\/09\/11\/eurostat-slight-rise-in-eu-employment-in-the-second-quarter\/","title":{"rendered":"Eurostat: slight rise in EU employment in the second quarter"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Brussels \u2013 Slight rise in employment in&nbsp;Europe:&nbsp;In the second quarter of 2026, <strong>the employment rate for people aged between 20 and 64 in the EU stood at 76.4 per cent, up from 76.3 per cent in the first quarter of the year,&nbsp; <a href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/eurostat\/web\/products-eurostat-news\/w\/ddn-20260911-1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">according to data released by Eurostat<\/a><\/strong>, the European Union\u2019s statistical office.<\/p>\n<p>Labour market slack, all persons with an unmet need for employment, including unemployed persons,&nbsp;stood at 11 per cent of the extended labour force aged 20\u201364 in the second quarter, unchanged from the first.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Between the first and second quarters of 2026, Portugal and Malta (up 0.6 percentage points each), Greece (+0.5 percentage points) and Latvia and Slovenia (each +0.4 percentage points) recorded the largest increases in the employment rate amongst the 14 EU countries where employment rose. <strong>Italy saw a&nbsp;0.2 percentage point rise, alongside Croatia, Spain and Estonia, in the second quarter compared with the first<\/strong>.
