Brussels – There is also an Italian name in the shortlist of appointed and confirmed judges at the European Court of Justice. The representatives of the EU member states have approved the names for the renewal of some of the posts at the EU’s justice body. They include Raffaella Pezzuto, serving her first term at the General Court. A magistrate born in 1971, she has dedicated her life and career to the world of justice. Pezzuto was head of criminal justice at Italy’s Permanent Representation to the European Union after being an advisor at the Court of Appeal in Florence and head of the International Coordination Office at the Ministry of Justice. Pezzuto will serve a six-year term in Luxembourg from September 1, 2025 to August 31, 2031.
Renewed were the terms of office for the General Court of Johannes Laitenberger and Gabriele Steinfatt (Germany), Danute Jočienė (Lithuania), Maja Brkan and Damjan Kukovec (Slovenia) and Jörgen Hettne (Sweden). Marko Bošnjak (Slovenia) was appointed as a judge of the Court of Justice to replace Mr Marko Ilešic, deceased, for the remainder of the latter’s term of office until October 6, 2027.
