Brussels – EU-US trade agreement: political group coordinators in the International Trade Committee fail to reach an agreement on whether to freeze the deal. The meeting, convened to decide whether to put the measure on the agenda and, if so, when, did not reach a decision. A new meeting has therefore been convened for Wednesday, 4 February, to take stock of the situation and, if necessary, make a decision at that meeting.
For the time being, therefore, the parliamentary committee is not following up on the decision taken by the House. Any decision not to put the EU-US agreement on tariffs on the agenda would be a significant political slap in the face for the Trump administration.
