    Tony Murphy re-elected President of the European Court of Auditors

    For the Irishman, a second three-year term starting 1 October

    Brussels – Tony Murphy was re-elected President of the European Court of Auditors. Irish, 63 years old, Murphy already headed the EU institution in 2022, the year of his first appointment. The President of the Court of Auditors has a three-year term in office, which can be renewed for an additional term. With the confirmation, Murphy will start his second term on 1 October and will remain in office until 30 September 2028. 

    The European Court of Auditors is the independent external auditor of the European Union. The Court reports risks, provides assurance, highlights shortcomings and good practices, and offers guidance to policy makers and legislators on how to improve the management of EU policies and programmes.
