Il commissario per l'Economia, Valdis Dombrovskis [Bruxelles, 22 maggio 2025]

Brussels – To be truly competitive, we need to work continuously and decisively at every level — European and national. It is the political reminder of the Commissioner for Economic Affairs, Valdis Dombrovskis, to the audience of the Brussels Economic Forum. The meeting of the G7 economy and finance ministers prevented him from being present. Still, in his recorded message, he first apologized and noted that for prosperity and stability, “it is essential to use every opportunity to build and relaunch mutually beneficial partnerships.” Then he stressed: “We must also act at home.”

From Dombrovskis, therefore, a new call for reforms. As far as the EU is concerned, he recalls the simplification initiatives, as well as the EUR 800 billion ‘RearmEu’ defense plan. At the EU level, “work is well underway,” now it is up to Member States.
