Brussels – The final event of the European project meetMED II “Mitigation Enabling Energy Transition in the Mediterranean Region”, promoted by MEDENER and RCREEE, with the support of the European Union, is being held in Brussels until tomorrow.
The event marks the conclusion of a four-year Euro-Mediterranean cooperation process aimed at promoting energy efficiency, renewable energy development and market integration in southern and eastern Mediterranean countries.
The event brings together national energy agencies, European institutional representatives, international experts and regional actors to discuss achievements and outline priorities for the next phase of the project: meetMED III.
During the two-day workshop, participants are called upon to assess the impact of meetMED II activities, share strategies for a fair and inclusive energy transition, and contribute to defining future perspectives on regional energy cooperation.
The first day was characterised by institutional speeches, thematic panels and in-depth discussions on national results, while tomorrow will be devoted to meetings with the meetMED Regional Experts Network (REN). The programme takes place in conjunction with UfM Green Week, fostering new synergies with the members of the Union for the Mediterranean.
“The meetMED II project has shown how Euro-Mediterranean cooperation can translate into concrete actions, capable of strengthening institutions, mobilising technical expertise and supporting the development of integrated energy policies. Our goal now is to give continuity to this commitment with the next phase of the project, focusing on inclusion, innovation and sustainability,” said Giorgio Graditi, Director General of ENEA and President of MEDENER.
“Over the past few years, we have built up a solid network of cooperation between experts and institutions in the partner countries. meetMED III will be an opportunity to strengthen this link even further and carry out concrete and shared actions,” added Roberta Boniotti, Secretary General of MEDENER.
