Fratoianni in Brussels to call for the suspension of the EU-Israel Association Agreement

Brussels – The European Union must suspend its Association Agreement with Israel because “there is no peace in Palestine, only a truce that is systematically violated by the Israeli army.” This is the demand made by Nicola Fratoianni, secretary of Sinistra Italiana, during the presentation in Brussels of the petition launched by the European Left Alliance calling for the suspension of the agreement with Tel Aviv.

“People continue to die in Gaza: from bullets, from hunger, from thirst, from lack of medicine. The illegal occupation of Gaza and the West Bank continues, as does what is effectively ethnic cleansing,” lists Fratoianni, according to whom “the Israeli government is preparing new offensives,” while “concrete initiatives are needed to build peace in Palestine.”

“First and foremost, we demand that the European Union terminate its association agreement with Israel,” stated the leader of Sinistra Italiana. “We have been calling for this in national parliaments over the past few months.”
