Brussels – How is the protection of citizens’ rights evolving in a world that is moving from paper wills to the cloud? On 18 March, the Council of Notaries of the European Union (CNUE) will launch the interactive exhibition “Ink to Cloud: Securing Transmission over Centuries“ at the European Parliament.

The exhibition is not only a journey through time, but also a political manifesto on legal certainty in the digital age. Through 25 display panels, the exhibition traces the wills of great European historical figures, from Christopher Columbus to Victor Hugo, highlighting the notary’s constant role as the guarantor of individual will across borders and through time.

In an increasingly interconnected Europe, “Ink to Cloud” addresses the challenges of digital justice and cross-border rights. The exhibition is divided into two complementary sections: on the one hand, the documents that have marked the history of the EU countries; on the other, the new frontiers of digital heritage. At the heart of the exhibition is Europe’s 45,000 notaries’ contribution to the creation of an area of freedom, security, and justice. The experience is enriched by multimedia installations and interactive tools that allow visitors to test their knowledge of digital heritage issues.

The official opening ceremony (which will take place two days after the exhibition opens) will be held at 6 p.m. on 18 March at the European Parliament (Altiero Spinelli Building) in the presence of representatives of the European institutions, the European Notariat, and national delegations.
