EU to provide 15 million euros to bolster Bosnia and Herzegovina’s armed forces

Brussels – The objective is to strengthen the armed forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s military and defence capabilities. For this reason, the Council of the EU decided to provide 15 million euros in financial support to the government in Sarajevo under the European Peace Facility. This assistance measure will strengthen the interoperability and operational readiness of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as their potential contribution to operations and missions under the EU’s Common Security and Defence Programme(CSDP) and to any international coalition.

More specifically, the European Peace Facility, through the €15 million support, will provide personal protective equipment, chemical, biological and nuclear defence equipment, night-vision devices, and cargo vehicles. It will also provide, where necessary, related supplies and services, including operational training.
