One in four book tickets online in the EU; Italy ranks last

Brussels – Concerts, films, exhibitions, matches: whatever the event, Europeans continue to prefer buying their tickets at the box office. In 2025, just 26.8 per cent of Europeans booked their tickets online. This figure is up on 2024 (+3.8 per cent), according to Eurostat, but overall there remains little inclination to buy tickets online.

However, the situation varies. Among EU countries, according to the European Statistical Office, Ireland recorded the highest percentage, with over half of respondents having purchased event tickets online in the last three months (51.5 per cent), followed by the Netherlands (48.1 per cent) and Denmark (47.9 per cent). The lowest percentages were recorded in Bulgaria (11.4 per cent), Romania (12.6 per cent), and Italy (14.2 per cent). Italy therefore ranks last in the EU for tickets to cultural and leisure events purchased online, confirming the typical Italian habit of preferring to shop in person.
