Brussels – On 30 June 2026, a total of 4.41 million non-EU citizens who had fled Ukraine had temporary protection in the EU. Compared with the end of May 2026, the number of people from Ukraine under temporary protection increased by 24,380 (+0.6 per cent), according to Eurostat figures released today (11 August).

The EU countries hosting the highest number of beneficiaries of temporary protection from Ukraine were Germany (1,286,230 people, accounting for 29.2 per cent of the EU total), Poland (961,170, accounting for 21.8 per cent), and the Czech Republic (390,810, accounting for 8.9 per cent). In Italy, at the end of June, there were 51,105 Ukrainian nationals under temporary protection.

According to data from the European Statistical Office, Ukrainian nationals accounted for over 98.5 per cent of beneficiaries of temporary protection in the EU. Adult women accounted for 43.4 per cent of the total, adult men for 27 per cent, and children for almost a third (29.6 per cent) of all beneficiaries.
