Brussels – Stripchat is a very large platform, the General Court of the EU ruled while dismissing the appeal brought by Technius Ltd – the company that controls the adult online portal – against the introduction of the obligation to comply with the rules of the Digital Services Act (DSA). The judges in Luxembourg have confirmed the validity of decisions taken by the European Commission in December 2023: the European Commission “gave adequate reasons for its decision,” according to the judgment of the General Court.
The judges in Luxembourg deemed “reliable” the data the Commission used to support the designation of Stripchat as a large platform (or gatekeeper) with 45 million or more unique monthly visitors. Consequently, Technius Ltd’s appeal was dismissed “in its entirety”.
