Brussels – The European Commission has launched negotiations to integrate Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, and Serbia into the EU’s “Roam like at home” scheme ( i.e. calls and mobile data usage at the same rates as at home). This will allow people travelling between the EU and the Western Balkans to make calls, send messages, and use mobile data without incurring additional roaming charges. Once the agreements have been finalised and the partners have fully aligned with EU roaming rules, the Commission will invite the Council to extend the EU roaming area accordingly.

Roaming charges for calls and internet usage outside one’s own country have now been abolished in the 27 EU Member States, in the countries of the European Economic Area (Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway), and from 1 January this year, including in Ukraine and Moldova, making a total of 32 countries on the European continent.
