Brussels – A complaint against the Belgian judiciary for “damage to reputation:” Forza Italia MEP Marco Falcone is considering this move against investigators who, to much media fanfare, recently requested the seizure of the offices of his assistants Francesco Vasta and Paolo Campisi as part of an investigation into an alleged corruption scheme by Chinese Tlc giant Huawei.
The seals were removed within a few days, and there was no action against Falcone or his staff.
“In connection with the events that, in recent days, have affected the office of my parliamentary assistants in Brussels, I intend to make it known that these premises, which were interdicted by the authorities last Thursday, have been returned to our full availability,” Falcone announced two days ago.
The MEP, deputy head of the Forza Italia delegation, insists that the seals “were placed despite the complete lack of involvement by myself and my assistants Francesco Vasta and Paolo Campisi in the Huawei investigation.”
In particular, Falcone, elected in the Islands constituency, added that “our parliamentary activity and the meetings held with stakeholders in recent months have never involved this area.”
So, “we are considering in these hours the opportunity to seek redress in the appropriate forums for damage to our reputation caused in recent days by these events,” he said.
