Brussels – Telling how and, more importantly, how much to contribute to support Ukraine’s war efforts against Russia: that is the goal being set by the Polish presidency of the EU Council, which has provided all delegations with a document indicating how much artillery ammunition to give as a national contribution to Kyiv.

The EU’s goal, contained in the white paper for defence, is to provide two million shells between now and the end of the year. Hence, the Polish initiative asking each delegation how many shells to contribute to ensure predictability. The issue will be preliminarily discussed at the informal meeting of defence ministers on April 2 and 3, and then have a first overall number by April 14, the day of the formal Foreign Affairs Council meeting.
