Brussels – Military mobility is an essential point of any EU defence strategy. This issue was the focus (on April 7) of a summit between military representatives from twenty-seven EU member states, who the military representative of Poland invited to participate in an off-site day of the European Union Military Committee (EUMC) in Breda, the Netherlands.

During the sessions in Breda, explains a note released today (April 9) by the chairman of the Union Military Committee, General Robert Brieger, senior officers continued discussions on European defence issues. A salient point of discussion was military mobility, an EU initiative to ensure the rapid and seamless movement of military personnel, equipment, and systems at short notice and on a large scale, within and beyond the EU soil. “This capability plays a vital role in EUs security and defence enabling rapid deployment and strategic flexibility which is essential for responding to any occurring crises,” the note stressed.

Generals and admirals gathered at the “Maczek Memorial Breda,” a historical site commemorating Lieutenant General Stanisław Maczek.
