Brussels – Forza Italia MEP Massimiliano Salini has been re-elected as Vice-President of the European People’s Party (EPP) Group. “My re-election as Vice-President of the EPP Group in the European Parliament represents a renewed sense of responsibility for me. I would like to thank my colleagues for their trust, which spurs me on to an ever-greater commitment to serving citizens and our regions, so that the EPP may play a leading role in a stronger, more competitive Europe, founded on the values of freedom, responsibility, and solidarity,” commented Salini following his re-election.
“We face crucial challenges: strengthening the competitiveness of businesses, supporting employment and families, guiding the environmental and digital transition with pragmatism, safeguarding security, and reaffirming the Union’s role on the international stage,” he added.
“One of the priorities is the future of the European automotive industry, a strategic sector for the economy, employment, and innovation. In my role as rapporteur” on the revision of the European Regulation on CO₂ emissions from cars and vans, “I will continue to work towards a practical industrial policy capable of reconciling environmental objectives with technological neutrality and economic and social sustainability, while protecting businesses, workers, and production chains from global competition,” he concluded.
